When was your business founded?
The Limoneira Company was founded in Ventura County, California in 1893. This year we will be celebrating 125 years in business.
What makes you and your business unique?
Our sustainability is what makes us unique. We’re a leader in the industry with solar orchards producing almost all of our energy needs across our fields and facilities. We have a state-of-the-art water processing facility using ultraviolet light and plant material that cleans grey water to California Title 22 drinking standards. We’re also a leader in providing workforce housing.
In the 1920s, we even created the first integrated Pest Facility to grow beneficial bugs and combat predator insects. Our organic green-waste recycling facility also provides mulch to our orchards (and those of other farmers) to reduce the amount of water, herbicides and fertilizer using in growing and to help create healthier spoil for our trees. At Limoneira, our top priority is to make sure citrus and sustainability go hand-in-hand.
